The seventh UK F2 workshop was held on Friday and Saturday 12-13 May 2023. The 6 attendees were from the UK (5, two were repeat attendees from the September 2022 workshop), and Germany.
The course book was expanded from 133 pages to 246 to include damage repairs, flow diagrams, and other additions. Again I asked the attendees to follow the book by themselves, and I helped them whenever they encountered problems. This approach worked very well as the last workshop, because everybody worked at their own pace, and I was able to help everybody without delaying anybody. Also, when the two shutter testers were occupied, I instructed the remaining attendees to follow later sections in the book so they didn’t loose any time.
The new magnifying lamps were excellent, and no one said they were not bright enough.
The two repeat attendees brought extra F2 bodes and DE-1 finders to the workshop, and under my guidance they completed them by the end of the workshop.
Although the course book has much improved, I noted some corrections and additions were necessary. They will be incorporated in the September 2023 course book as new inserts.
One attendee had to leave early on the second day, so I completed the camera body and finder for him after the workshop at extra cost.
Everybody else finished by 5.30pm and they helped me to pack everything up by 6pm.
The workshop was another success.
Feedbacks from the participants :
“Thank you for your patience and efforts over the last two days at the workshop. I now know where exactly I need to adjust the high speed cam and also how to get the refoaming right.”
“Special thanks to Sover for another informative workshop. I thoroughly recommend attending more than one if you can.”
“A really big thanks to Sover for this workshop, and providing such excellent tools and teaching materials. Over the two days I serviced, re-foamed and calibrated both F2 bodies to within 1/4 stop (well, 1/3rd of a stop at 1/2000th), even using the dreaded cam-hammer for 1/2000th! It was an excellent workshop overall and has given me the confidence to open up an F2, diagnose common problems, service it and return it to its proper state to be used as Nikon intended.”
“Thank you very much for the wonderful and perfectly organized workshop and the photos. I had a very good time with you and learned a lot. My first task is now to make me a few tools.”
“Thanks for the course and providing a lot of food for thought, it was far more difficult that I anticipated.”
“The workshop was a great first experience of servicing an F2 body and given me the confidence to try some basic servicing of another F2 body.”
"Thanks so much for the workshop, I really enjoyed it and learned so much."
"Thanks again. I had a great time."
"Great value in my view."
