UK F2 workshop September 2024
The tenth UK F2 workshop was held on Friday and Saturday 20-21 September 2024. The 6 attendees were from the UK (two, 1 repeat), Austria (repeat), France, Belgium and Serbia.

Two more pages were added to the last workshop book to show lens flange to film/rails distance measurements, as it was requested by an attendee prior to the workshop.

The attendees helped me to set up tables at the evening before the workshop, and they helped me to pack things up at the end of the workshop. Their help saved me a lot of time and energy, which was greatly appreciated.

As the last few workshops, I instructed the attendees to follow the course book by themselves, and I helped them whenever they encountered problems. Everybody did relatively well, both less experienced and more experienced ones. A repeat attendee was even able to replace the faulty shutter speed selector just by following instructions in the course book without my help.

However, there wasn't enough time for me to cover everything because there were a couple of problematic cameras and I spent too much time showing lens flange to film/rails distance measurements. Since these demonstrations are not essential, I will only show them in future workshops if time permits.

Also, I noted some essential additions are needed in the workshop book to eliminate problems and mishaps encountered by a few attendees.

After the workshop, four of us went to the regular local Chinese restaurant at 6.00pm for the end of course meal, which we enjoyed.

Feedbacks from the attendees :

Than you to all of you for the friendly moment we spent together and especially to Sover for his commitment and patience with absolute beginners like I was.

I would like to thank everyone for the fantastic time spent together.

Thank you for another great workshop experience - I think it was the best one yet. The book was a great help and I'm looking forward to future editions.

Based on my mistakes, and possible hesitations, the only little thing I could say would be to add a red sentence (or maybe an orange one because that is not so dangerous) in the right places. But, as you said, if I (we) would have followed the manual exactly, then I would not have done these mistakes.

Thank you for running these workshops, it was a pretty unique opportunity to get hands-on experience servicing the Nikon F2. I am a novice when it comes to any mechanical / electrical work - in fact this is the first time I have ever attempted to do something like this. I wish we had more time so we could learn more about how everything inside the F2 works.
