The twelfth UK F2 workshop was held on Friday and Saturday 19-20 September 2025. One person was unable to attend but I was able to find a replacement, so I refunded him. The 6 attendees were from the UK (four, 1 repeat), USA and Netherlands (repeat).
As before, I instructed the attendees to follow the course book by themselves, and I helped them whenever they encountered problems. A repeat attendee brought a F body, so I guided him to open and service it along with the F2 body he brought. Another attendee brought several camera bodies to test on the Kyoritsu shutter tester, and he compared the results with the prototype shutter tester he was developing.
Everybody did relatively well. However, I noted some improvements and additions are needed in the workshop book.
Two attendees fully serviced their cameras by 3pm, so they left early as they had other engagements. The remaining four attendees completed their cameras by 4.30pm, and they helped me to pack everything up, which was greatly appreciated.
After the workshop, three of us went to the regular local Chinese restaurant at 6.00pm for the end of course meal, which we enjoyed very much.
Feedbacks from the attendees :
It was a great workshop and I learned a lot.
It’s been an absolute pleasure meeting you, and if you enjoyed teaching, it’s been even more enjoyable being taught.
For the room setup, having testers more towards the centre and tables against the walls might give everyone better visibility and more space.
It far exceeded my expectations - and I had high expectations. . . You provided not only the level of technical detail I'd expected, but you also went much further to provide step-by-step guidance that allowed a students with a wide range of abilities to reach the same goal.
The manual is excellent as it is, and it’s clear how much time and experience has gone into it. However, I suggest to add rectangular warning boxes to further highlight areas that can cause problems.
